Reviving the Internal Organs is an essential part of the Internal Alchemy Method in the Daoist tradition.
The importance of the internal organs to our overall physical health cannot be over emphasised. They are the inner world of our body, and they are what carry out the essential body functions, such as blood production and circulation, breathing, immunity, digestion, absorption, reproduction, etc…
Unlike the external parts of the body which can be directly exercised, and supposedly strengthened and revitalised as a result, there is no obvious way that we can revitalise the internal organs in a straightforward way. Food – we might think, is the solution. However, we all know that if our internal organs are not in good order, food can be more troublesome than it can be beneficial.
So, to get our internal organs into good order and good quality in the first place is the key.
That’s what Qigong can do for us. Through the activation and application of the Qi, we can improve the quality of the internal organs and put them into good order therefore to perform good functions.
The Qigong tradition accumulated rich knowledge about the internal organs, incorporating information from Chinese Medicine. Experiences and perceptions through Hua Gong, lead to many insights and effective techniques that we can use to heal, strengthen and take care of our internal organs. To give one example, an important discovery of the Hua Gong is that the Shen (spirit, light, embodiment) of the internal organs is often dispersed out of the body like the tail of a comet and can be recollected and embodied.
On the retreat for Reviving the Internal Organs we will share and practise the ideas of centring the Shen, implementing the right element, ‘climate’ and ‘animation’ for each of the internal organs for a healthier body and much improved function.
